About the role
We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic and experienced nurse to join our friendly team as a Nurse Specialist in a fixed term (16 months), full-time capacity.
The Nurse Specialist is an advanced nursing speciality practice and is an expert in assessment skills, diagnostic reasoning, knowledge of management options and monitoring underpin practice. They have specialist knowledge of complex conditions which is central to the role. Case management and coordination of the patient and their whanau with health professionals, inpatient areas and intersectorially is integral.
About the Service
The Gastroenterology service provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment and long term follow-up for children and adolescents with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), This is predominantly an outpatient based role managing clinics and community consults. You will work alongside the Gastroenterologists in providing education to, and counselling children and families when they are newly diagnosed. You will also be involved in managing day case infusions for children with IBD, transition services for rangatahi moving to adult services, and diagnostic capsule endoscopy.
