RMO Handbook: Education at your finger tips

RMO Handbook is an app and website that has transformed the current RMO clinical handbook content into a simple user experience. It provides first year medical officers with an easier way to navigate information and search for specific material.

The problem: The RMO clinical handbook is a digital PDF handbook that has over 500 pages of content for first-year resident medical officers. The content can be difficult to find and navigate making the PDF book a frustrating user experience. Resident medical officers needed a way to engage and learn the content that met their needs. The ADHB also needed a solution to improve content management and frequency of updates.

Our goal was to offer a simple user experience, giving users the ability to simply and quickly search what their looking for or browse in an easy to use format, with the ability to update content more frequently and distribute new content to users in real time.

Leveraging new technology

OR Scheduler: Efficient & accessible scheduling of operating theatres

OR Scheduler is an online portal that enables service managers, OR managers, surgeons and the production planning department to have full visibility over operating theatres in use now and in the future. The OR scheduler aims to minimise unused sessions through technology to enable the efficient exchange of OR sessions between services.

Prior to our online portal the process was manual, with multiple spreadsheets and meetings required, which often led to delays in session releases, a lower level of session pickups and confusion around the multiple versions of the schedule.

The team worked to create a solution which allowed all three teams visibility to see and edit a live calendar. Users are able to release and pick up OR sessions in real time. This means more operating theatres in use more often, delivering patient outcomes faster whilst also saving Auckland DHB time and money.
