About the role
We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic, and experienced nurse to join our team as a Nurse Specialist. We have a fixed term (12 months), part time (0.6 FTE) Nurse Specialist position available to provide parental leave cover.
The Nurse Specialist is an expert in assessment skills, diagnostic reasoning, knowledge of management options that underpin practice. This role has specialist knowledge of complex conditions which is central to the role. Case management and coordination of the tamariki and their whānau with health professionals and both inpatient and community professionals are integral.
In this role as an Orthopaedic Nurse Specialist, you will collaborate closely with our Orthopaedic Specialists at Starship Child Health. The Nurse Specialist will ensure coordination of planned or acute care of varying complexity. This includes coordination of care in the pre-hospital, hospital, and community settings. You will work closely with a wider team of Orthopaedic Specialists, Nurse Specialists, Senior Nurses, Nursing teams and the wider multidisciplinary and community teams and services. Working together to foster the provision of positive outcomes and experiences for tamariki and their whanau.
About the Team
Paediatric Orthopaedics in Starship Child Health is a 25 bedded paediatric ward specialising in treating children with disorders of bones, joints and muscles. Children usually stay 1-3 days. However, some long-stay patients (such as patients with osteomyelitis) can stay for six weeks.
