Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
· Full time or part time permanent position located in Greenlane Clinical Centre, Auckland
· Monday to Friday and rostered after hours on call
· Opportunity for the right candidate to take on a formal clinical leadership role
Awhi Mātua is a community based service, based on the Greenlane site. We provide specialist assessment and treatment for adults aged 65 years and over who are experiencing mental illness and/or cognitive change. Our multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to optimise the function and wellness of older adults with the aim of supporting them to continue to live as independently and meaningfully as possible.
The team provides a range of assessment and recovery focused treatment options for older adults experiencing serious mental health issues and psychiatric complications of neurodegenerative disorders. We also provide a range of high quality therapeutic interventions with a strong multi-disciplinary focus.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, proactive Consultant Psychiatrist, with a special interest in older adult’s mental health. You will join a well established supportive multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurses, allied health and administration staff. The team also includes a full time registrar, house officer and other students completing clinical placements.

Our ideal candidate will have excellent assessment and management skills and be recovery focused with an ability to work collaboratively with our service users and their families/whānau.
In addition to the above, to be successful in this role, you will also need:
● To be vocationally registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand with a current Practicing Certificate or be eligible for registration (please note, if you are an overseas specialist, you will be required to provide source verification of your qualifications for your registration application. ● Full and clean driver’s license as this is a community based role
● A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
This role includes the requirement to participate in the Liaison Psychiatry and Awhi Mātua Consultant Psychiatrist on-call roster.
