About the Role
Te Whatu Ora Northern region is looking for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to provide medical leadership to the Te Toka Tumai Adult Community Mental Health Services group; Manawanui Oranga Hinengaro and Lotofale.
This is a unique and exciting role, encompassing strategic, professional and clinical leadership within the Te Toka Tumai Adult Community Mental Health services. The Medical Lead works in collaboration with the Service Clinical Directors of the Adult Community Mental health services; the Service Clinical Director of Manawanui Oranga Hinengaro and Lotofale and the Operations Manager to provide strategic leadership to our Community Mental health services.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Medical Lead ensures the medical care provided to the Tangata Whaiora of Te Toka Tumai is of a high standard. They contribute to the strategic workplan of the medical workforce within adult mental health services and provide professional leadership to this psychiatry group. The Medical Lead also participates in directorate wide leadership activities as part of the senior leadership group of Kāhui O te ihi.
This challenging and rewarding role requires a leader with an ability to work collaboratively to deliver innovative and creative solutions and identify, create and maximise opportunities. You will be approachable, forward thinking and keen to implement changes to further enhance the services provided by the team. Strong relationship building skills will be key – the role works requires a significant level of collaboration with other leaders.
This is a part time leadership role of 0.5 FTE with the understanding the the successful applicant will work between 0.3-0.5 FTE within the clinical services, making the FTE between 0.8-1.0 FTE.
The role will report to the Service Clinical Director, Adult Community Mental Health with strong support from the Medical Director for Kahui o te ihi.

The successful candidate will:
· Be vocationally registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (www.mcnz.org.nz) with a current Annual Practising Certificate or eligible for the same.
· Be a highly experienced and respected clinician
· Demonstrate practiced leadership skills
· Have demonstrable commitment to quality, safety and clinical governance
· Have excellent communication skills and collaborative ability
· Hold a commitment to Te Whatu Ora and Te Toka Tumai espoused values
