Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
In this role, your prime focus will be to manage the technical staff, technology resources and systems in order to achieve the unit’s day to day operational requirements with an over-all emphasis on quality outcomes and service delivery. You will have the primary responsibility for maintaining the unit’s accreditation against the standard ISO 15189 and will manage the team and resources of the unit to provide timely laboratory information in line with clinical expectations. You will endorse the LabPlus mission statement: “We will support our customers with a laboratory service of excellence and innovation which has a positive impact on healthcare."
Reporting to the Shared Services Manager, this is a key role in ensuring efficient and effective functioning of the unit in accordance with the department’s protocols and policies.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
You will be an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist with current registration with the Medical Sciences Council of NZ. Ideally, you will also have a tertiary qualification in health management or quality assurance.
You will be familiar with laboratory quality standards and processes and will have working knowledge of financial systems within the health sector. You will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to positively influence others. You will have experience of working in a Diagnostic Medical Laboratory in a middle management / supervisor position or similar. You will have exceptional time management skills, enjoy autonomy and have good decision making skills. You will enjoy organising people and resources, juggling responsibilities and achieving demanding yet exciting goals.
