Starship Hospital provides subspeciality services such as cardiology, respiratory, oncology, neurology, endocrinology, infectious diseases, immunology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, renal and child protection services. Acute services include the children’s emergency department, surgical services including trauma, orthopaedic, neurosurgery, ENT and general surgery and paediatric and newborn intensive care units. All services provide a supportive consultant led environment.
The Starship Radiology department in Auckland District Health Board services an active specialist referral base with tertiary and quaternary clinical services to a large population. You will be joining a team of 11 Paediatric Radiologists supported by a wider team of Registrars, Radiographers, Sonographers, Nurses, RIS-PACS and administrative support staff. We are an accredited teaching hospital and provide a full range of services from neonatal imaging to 15 years (and older) to a hospital which has 230 beds including 40 NICU, 20 PICU and 10 HDU beds.
There is an AGFA PACS system with a filmless environment.
Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
In this position, you will provide a Diagnostic reporting service for all modalities in the Paediatric Radiology Department and work across all modalities of paediatric interventional imaging including vascular access, biopsies, steroid injections, bone ablations, nephrostomies and drainages. There are opportunities to participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings across all the subspecialty services.
On call requirements are approximately 1:10 weeks.
The position is a permanent fulltime (1.3 FTE). You will be responsible for issuing reports, supervising registrars and teaching, liaising with other services, providing opinions and reporting on external imaging, supervising sonographers and working closely with radiographers.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
As the ideal candidate, you will be a qualified Paediatric Radiologist with Fellowship Training. Clinical experience in all aspects of general paediatric radiology including conventional radiographs, fluoroscopic procedures, ultrasound, CT and MRI is a must. You will need to work as part of a small but collaborative inter and intra-disciplinary team.
You will have or be eligible to apply for vocational registration and Annual Practising Certificate with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
