Gastroenterology Fellow (Auckland City Hospital) Fixed -Term for 6 months (Full time)

About the Role
An excellent opportunity exists at Te Toka Tumai Auckland within the Gastroenterology department. Demand for Gastroenterology outpatient and endoscopy services is consistently high and therefore we are looking for enthusiastic doctor to join us. We are seeking a Fellow to join the Department of Gastroenterology to provide clinical duties to the Gastroenterology service at Auckland City Hospital and Greenlane Clinical Centre. The successful applicant will develop experience in diagnosis and management of adults with gastrointestinal and general liver conditions with service provision for general endoscopy and clinics. There is also opportunities to upskill in ERCP and other interventional endoscopy. Further learning opportunities include oesophageal manometry, pH testing and capsule endoscopy along with close ties with the NZ Familial GI cancer service.
Fellows participate in clinical audit programmes and contribute to the knowledge of medical, nursing and support staff. The Fellow works on the specialist in hours roster under supervision and there are opportunities for academic study and/or clinical research. No out of hours work is rostered, but if requested, experience in out of hours emergency endoscopy can be arranged.
The atmosphere at the Te Toka Tumai is stimulating with a strong academic focus and an organisation-wide commitment to quality and process improvement. There are four endoscopy rooms that are modern and spacious, and the equipment and information technology is reviewed regularly.

We have a team of 11 Gastroenterologists - 2 Gastroenterology Training registrars, Gastroenterology house officer and 1-2 Gastroenterology Fellows
Nursing team including speciality nurse in IBD and Bowel cancer Screening. Nurse training in nutrition and feeding tubes.
