The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit of Starship Hospital is on the lookout for a Ward Clerk to join their friendly team in a permanent part-time capacity. The position involves working a Monday – Friday, 3:00pm to 9:30pm (32 hours per week). The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is the national service for all children requiring intensive care. Being the only dedicated paediatric intensive care facility within Aotearoa; this busy unit offers a great experience and a supportive structure for all team members.
The role of a Ward Clerk does vary in tasks and involves a high level of interaction with the wider Starship team. As a Ward Clerk within the unit, you will be the first point of contact for anyone entering PICU at any given time, especially whānau of children as it is likely you will be the first person they will meet – so superb communication skills are a must! This is a fast-paced role and will include a great amount of adaptability, flexibility and prioritisation skills to cope with the changing environments within the unit. You will be responsible for (but not limited to) the maintenance of patient files, arranging and monitoring patient movements, all discharge and admission paperwork and assisting in ward management functions.
