Tū Māia Regional Youth Forensic Service is seeking a driven and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our supportive, multi-disciplinary team.
Tū Māia Regional Youth Forensic Service is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to young people involved in the justice system. Our mission is to address the complex needs of at-risk youth through a holistic and integrated approach. We specialise in mental health and social work interventions tailored to support youth facing legal challenges, with the ultimate goal of fostering resilience, promoting recovery, reducing recidivism and achieving successful reintegration into society.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
As the Senior Social Worker at Tū Māia, you will be pivotal in transforming the lives of young people within the justice system. Your expertise will drive the following key responsibilities:
· Case Management: Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand the unique needs of each young person. Develop and implement individualised intervention plans that address mental health, social, and environmental factors.
· Service Coordination: Work collaboratively with mental health professionals, legal representatives, and community resources to ensure seamless service delivery. Coordinate multi-disciplinary efforts to provide holistic care.
· Advocacy and Support: Act as a strong advocate for the rights and needs of young people. Provide emotional and practical support, helping them navigate the complexities of the justice system.
· When required, conduct assessments for court to inform legal decisions regarding the youth’s care and rehabilitation.
· Cultural Competency: Employ a bi-cultural practice model to ensure culturally relevant and respectful care. Embrace diverse perspectives and practices to enhance service delivery.
· Service Development: Contribute to the ongoing development of our services. Bring innovative ideas and approaches to improve our support for youth in the justice system.
· Professional Development: Support the professional growth of your colleagues through mentorship, training, and collaborative practice.
· Contribute to service development initiatives, shaping the future of youth justice.

We are looking for a social worker with:
• A relevant social work qualification, training and eligible to work in Aotearoa, New Zealand
· A minimum of 4 years' experience in a relevant social work setting.
· At least 2 years of experience working in mental health is a must. Prior experience in youth justice or child protection is a bonus.
• Strong assessment, intervention planning, and case management skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• A commitment to culturally competent practice.
