As the Clinical Nurse Specialist for Starship’s Children’s Emergency Department (CED), you will provide specialist nursing care and expertise, both in direct patient care for undifferentiated children and young people presenting and quality improvement. (removein support of other staff in the department.
The CNS role is a Nurse Practitioner intern role, the expectation it that the successful candidate will progress into the Nurse Practitioner role in a two year timeframe.
You will be joining at team that seeks to lead New Zealand in paediatric service delivery, in the provision of pre and post-graduate nursing education, and through the building of our reputation as a national centre of excellence in paediatrics.
Our CED is the only one in New Zealand designed to focus exclusively on the needs of children. We receive 33,000 acute attendances per year and are the paediatric advanced trauma centre for the region. We have a high acuity mix, with approximately 22% of children being admitted. Our CED is housed in a purpose built facility with state of the art equipment and is staffed by a great team of health professionals.

As the ideal candidate for this role you will :-
- Have at least 5 years of Paediatric Emergency Nursing experience
- Have a Masters or near qualification
- have experience in a leadership role with a strong commitment to quality healthcare
- be able to play a strategic role within the service to ensure service and organisational objectives are met
- be passionate about paediatric nursing and providing family centred nursing care
