We are looking for a passionate and motivated Healthcare Assistant interested in joining the Starship team and developing their skills within the paediatric specialty.
Starship Child Health is the leading provider of paediatric health care in Aotearoa and the South Pacific, delivering whānau centred care to infants, children, young people and their whānau in hospital and in the community.
Our Children’s Emergency Department consists of a multidisciplinary team including Hospital Play Specialists, Social Workers, Māori & Pacific Island support workers and clerical staff who of course work closely with the nursing and medical teams.
Healthcare Assistants are an integral part of any service to ensure smooth running of the department at any given time and the delivery of optimum quality care. HCA’s in the Children’s ED department play a key role in the functioning of the department, from monitoring and re-setting rooms to managing stock and supplies to safe levels.
As an HCA you will be involved with a range of direct and non-direct patient care tasks given to you under the directions of a Registered Nurse. A typical day can involve assisting with patient care such as; the management of patient transfers, general department maintenance, restocking supplies and equipment, re-setting beds and ensuring the up keep of rooms and theatres at all times.
Your strong work ethic, excellent time management and people skills will ensure that we maintain a safe, pleasant and functional working environment which has a direct and positive impact on patient care.
To be considered you will need to hold an appropriate Health Care Assistant qualification (Level 3 - 4) and you must be able to provide the below documentation:
