Starship Child Health is the leading provider of paediatric care in New Zealand and the South Pacific, providing world-class inpatient, outpatient, trauma, emergency, and urgent care to children and their whānau. We have three positions starting on February 1st 2022. These roles would suit candidates looking for future roles as either a Specialist Paediatric Anaesthetist, or a General Anaesthetist with a special interest in Paediatric Anaesthesia.
Two of these are 12 month programs based at Starship Children's Health, New Zealand's premier paediatric hospital with six months in Paediatric Anaesthesia and six months in Paediatric Intensive Care each. You will be either nearing the end of your training, or ideally, have recently completed a formal anaesthesia training programme, but seeking additional structured training in Paediatric Anaesthesia and Paediatric Intensive Care. The third is full time Paediatric Anaesthesia aimed at the more senior trainee. You will have to have completed formal anaesthesia training and have some previous paediatric anaesthetic experience in a senior trainee role to be suitable for this position. As a Fellow at Starship Children’s Hospital, you will receive exposure to a wide range of paediatric anaesthesia including neurosurgery, cardiac surgery and pain management. There is an expectation that the Fellow will be involved in audit activities and other departmental activities. Some participation in on call duties will be required.

To be considered for this role, you must be eligible for general registration with Medical Council of New Zealand, and be in a accredited anaesthetic training program equivalent to the Australasian FANZCA at the end of training or have an anaesthetic Fellowship equivalent to FANZCA.
