Medical Lab Scientist / Technician

We are looking for a qualified Med Lab Scientist to join our team in the Department of Virology & Immunology at LabPlus, Auckland City Hospital.
About the position
This is a permanent full time role. In this position, you will be responsible for protein analysis utilising a number of electrophoretic techniques and allergy investigations, including direct patient testing.

LabPLUS is an IANZ accredited medical laboratory and is one of New Zealand's premier laboratories. LabPLUS are part of the state-owned Auckland District Health Board. We offer a comprehensive pathology service for Auckland City Hospital, Starship Children’s Hospital, National Women's Health, and the Greenlane Clinical Centre. LabPlus is a modern diagnostic laboratory recently built and custom designed, with state of the art technical equipment and IS support. Facilities include automated electrophoresis equipment, both gel and liquid together with Phadia specific IgE equipment.
About the department
The Virology & Immunology department of LabPLUS includes a number of sections offering reference testing with differing techniques and interests allowing for well-rounded scientific development in the discipline. This position is in the Immunochemistry section of the department with the possibility of rotating through other sections in the future.
Our methods, training, expertise and knowledge conform to the highest standards expected by our peers and the community at large. We enjoy a close association with the University of Auckland Medical School and participate in external Quality Assurance Programmes initiated by the Royal College of Pathologists (Australia).
You will be a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist with the Medical Sciences Council www.mscouncil.org.nz with a current annual practicing certificate. You will be a team oriented person. A working knowledge of laboratory quality processes and ISO:15189 is also essential.
