Auckland City Hospital has an active 24-hour security service. If you have a concern about security issues, tell the ward staff or security officers immediately. After hours, visitors must check in with the security staff at Level 5 before being able to proceed to the wards.
Auckland City Hospital provides patients and visitors with a number of convenient shopping facilities. On Level 5 you will find a pharmacy, convenience store/florist, and bookstore/gift shop. These shops are open seven days and sell, among other things, phone cards, newspapers, toiletries, snacks and flowers. There is also a small shopping area across from the hospital on Park Road.
There are public toilets for visitors (including disability toilets), parenting rooms with nappy change areas, and an area suitable for breastfeeding on every floor.
Please check with your nurse or midwife if you plan to use a mobile phone as these may interfere with equipment. There is a landline telephone in the whānau room on each ward. This can be used for outgoing calls in the Auckland free calling area. Coin and card telephones are located in main corridors. We are not able to receive incoming telephone calls for patients. Phone cards, stamps and newspapers can be bought at the shops on Level 5. Mail for patients is delivered to the wards on weekdays. There is also a post box for sending mail on Level 5 outside the book store.
